Crystal Energy You Can Wear

“Crystal

You know what they say: Keep your friends close, and your crystals closer. Having your gemstones at hand is an easy way to unfurl their energy in moments of need. But what if you’re after 24/7 protection? Try wearing them! A crystal healing necklace with a wire-wrapped stone is easy to make, and it helps bring their restorative powers to the forefront of daily life. Plus, it looks beautiful. So here’s what to do!

Choose Your Crystal

The most important step to crafting your own wire-wrapped crystal healing necklace is choosing the right stone. Keep in mind that its powers will be with you at all times, so take a moment to learn about each stone’s unique properties.

  1. Consider Your Motivation

First, identify what you’re missing in your day-to-day. Maybe you need extra energy, or you’re looking to become more balanced. No matter what’s going on in your life, there’s a stone for you. If you’re not sure where to start, a healing stones set is a great jumping-off point. You can spend some time connecting with each stone to find one that fits your vibe, but we can’t promise you won’t become obsessed with the mythology of crystals in the process. With our Lunarly subscription box, you’ll get a new stone each month—perfect for building your collection and knowledge. Or, simply repurpose stones that you may have two of, or that don’t fit on your current altar.

Crystal pendants also tend to make excellent gifts, especially if a friend or loved one is going through a difficult time. It’s a great way to show someone that you’ve been paying attention to what they need—maybe they’re going through a breakup or a job change, or have just recently moved. Include a brief description of the stone’s powers, allowing them to take exactly what they need from their new jewelry. (More on that below!)

  1. Know When to Use What Stone

When it comes to wearable crystals, the choices can seem endless. As long as you do your research and feel good about the stones you choose, you’ll be in a good place. To help, here are some of our favorite stones for different scenarios (you can also check out our guide to crystal meanings).

  • Attract Love: first dates, first day of school, beauty appointments

Many stones can help you to attract romantic, friendly, and self love. Our favorite for making crystal jewelry would have to be rose quartz, a storied and beautiful piece known as “The Love Stone”. Its light, translucent color makes it perfect for everyday wear, and it definitely looks the part when it comes to drawing out its namesake powers.

  • Attract Success: presentations at work, deadlines coming up, busy weeks

Our favorite stone for success happens to be one of the most rare crystals to be found in nature: Citrine. Known for its ability to lead to monetary accomplishments in business, foster creativity, and embrace abundance, citrine has a golden shine to it that we’ll never turn down.

  • Attract Energy: days spent outside, the end of the week, running tedious errands

If it’s energy you seek, you can’t go wrong with clear quartz. True to its name, this stone helps provide clarity, a sharper mind, and an envigored spirit. Think crystal balls—clear quartz will help you find all the answers you seek.

  • Attract Peace: when you’re feeling stressed, giving advice, big decisions

Giving peace a chance? We’d recommend going with amethyst. Known to attract calm, wisdom, and mental clarity, this stone is also revered for its beautiful deep purple color—perfect for a pendant.

  • Attract Joy: going out with friends, meeting new people, trying new things

Feeling like you need a boost? Dalmatian jasper is the perfect stone to nurture your feelings of happiness and playfulness. If you tend to build up walls around the more personal parts of your personality, this stone can help you break them down, allowing a childlike sense of wonder to flow in.

  1. Create a Personalized Combination

You can also combine the energies of more than one crystal by wire-wrapping two stones together. For example, you could create a piece with both rose quartz and black tourmaline, to attract love while still protecting yourself and your energy. Or, try carnelian and yellow jade, to pursue your dreams ambitiously and keep creativity on the forefront. If you’re interested in finding success, but having trouble motivating, try crafting a necklace out of citrine and clear quartz. If you start to feel overwhelmed by choice, remember that the abundance only means that there are stones that will be the perfect fit.

Gather Your Supplies

Now that you know about stones and their meanings, you can craft a single pendant or create a combo that fits you just right. Here’s what you’ll need to make a crystal healing necklace.

  • Crystal(s)
  • Wire
  • Necklace chain
  • Round nose pliers (Don’t have these? Your hands + a pencil should work just fine.)

Wrap Your Crystal in Wire

Wire wrapping a stone is easy! If you’re interested in making a piece with two crystals, simply repeat the steps below to make an individual pendant for the second stone, or place it above the first after step four, repeating the process again to make a stacked pendant.

  1. Cut two pieces of wire, at least five inches in length. You may need to make them longer depending on the size of your crystal, but you can always cut them down if your stone is too small.
  2. Twist the two wires together in the middle until they form a tight spiral, about the length of your stone.
  3. Align this twist to the side of your crystal, then place the crystal in between the two wires, pulling one over either side of the stone. Redo the twist on the other side.
  4. Cross the wires back over the stone, one in the front and one in the back. Twist together with the opposite ends of the wire, creating a twist on the front and the back of the crystal.
  5. Next, twist the wires tightly up from the top of the crystal, creating a long extra piece.
  6. Using your pliers (if you don’t have these, you can use a pencil to create the loop and your hands to fold the wire!), fold over the extra twist to create a loop and trim any excess once it’s been secured.
  7. Thread your necklace chain through the loop of your crystal pendant and enjoy!

These instructions can be easily repurposed to make other kinds of jewelry or art. Your pendant could become an earring, a talisman for your window, a bauble for the end of a bookmark, or a bracelet, keyring, or purse charm. The only limits are your own imagination.

Now that you know how to make your own healing crystal necklace, you’re well on your way to living a more mindful, intentional, and healthy life with ease—and style!
